Neat Freak! is a room and house organizing, decorating, and staging company in Nashville, Tennessee that believes that a chaotic and disorganized space can lead to an even more chaotic and disorganized way of living, disrupting ones mood and behavior. Neat Freak! believes that a clean, clear space is an important foundation to lead a happier, more stress free life. The colors the client wanted to use were light blue, lavender, light green, and white. These colors are perceived as very calming and soothing. The client also wanted the logo to contain both a logo type and logo mark mentioning that they wanted to see “Freak!” in a different typeface than “Neat.” Because the goal of the company is to create balance and harmony in ones home and life, I wanted the logo mark to reflect that using symmetry. This symmetrical shape also reflects pieces or boxes fitting together perfectly in place which emphasizes organization and cleanliness while also creating a discoverable house in the center. Kaleidoscope, a children's museum sponsored by Crayola in Kansas City, encourages children to use their knowledge of art and creativity to express their original ideas and special skills while promoting inclusion, diversity, happiness, and by nourishing their imaginations. While visiting Kaleidoscope, kids will be immersed in an energized, bright, and hands-on environment as they cultivate relationships with other children and with their creative side. For this logo redesign, I used the fact that Kaleidoscope is sponsored by Crayola to include a shape of a crayon in the logo itself. I also played off of the look of a children's drawing by using color blocks of primary colors that do not fit perfectly into the line drawing. For this ad campaign, the essence of Kaleidoscope is displayed by showing a boring, white canvas outside of the Kaleidoscope walls. As the words enter the bright space, things become vibrant and colorful. The primary message behind this campaign lets children know that they are welcomed in Kaleidoscope, no matter what. After developing the Motif Stylescape and establishing a brand direction, the goal of this logo was to create a logo that paid homage to music without being too literal. This logo also had to reflect the brand keywords chosen by the client– dynamic, innovative, and peaceful. The ideal client of this bed and breakfast would be anyone looking for a brief, quiet getaway in the secluded mountains of Colorado. One thing that makes this bed and breakfast unique is its discreet isolation up in the mountains. The voice and tone of this bed and breakfast is cozy, quaint, quiet, and warm. I wanted this logo to feel quaint, charming, and to appeal to couples or friends looking for a secluded giveaway. The Morris & Rye CPAs logo mark was inspired by crop rows in a field and bales of hay. The mark as a whole creates a discoverable “m” while a discoverable “r” is seen in the the green quarter circle. To keep in line with the environmental inspirations, I used green and copper. This, again, references rural fields and crops, but also pays homage to the many copper statues and architectural elements in small towns that eventually turn green from patina. The client wanted to utilize a specific illustration of a Lily of the Valley flower as well as retain the dark jade green and implied gold foil gradient. The client wanted this logo to feel high-end and not outdated. To refresh this logo, I used a slightly more unique, high contrast serif typeface so the logo didn’t come across as standard and unintentional. I recreated the Lily of the Valley illustration to add some dimension and varied line weight to help it feel more realistic. Because the illustration is so organic, I felt using a script typeface for “floral studio” rather than a sans serif typeface would help to tie the elements together. The goal of this project was to design a logo, identity system, map, and signage for the Opelika Wood Duck Heritage Preserve in Opelika, Alabama. This logo and system must hold true to the ideals, values, and goals of this preserve. My design concept is summed up by three words: calming, nurturing, and peaceful. The mark also had to include the colors that were previously established by POSNA. The mark displays a more literal depiction of a microphone, however, the discoverable PO monogram alludes to the name while also subtly hints at sound waves, as the letters create a repetitive, radial design. This negative space is a reference to the term, “negative space”, used often in quilting, but is also a reference to the name, “Out of the Blue”, as a small shape has literally been taken out of the blue square. Because the retreat was held in Cape Code, Massachusetts, the client wanted a design that paid homage to the East Coast and that utilized existing brand colors and typefaces. This line art style rendering of a lighthouse is very representative of the East Coast while giving something traditional a more modern, clean aesthetic. Each floor plan is designed to attract people seeking adventure away from big living. Every model is high quality, design driven, and supported with superior customer service. The goal of this logo was to utilize the clean, single weight treatment seen across many of Clayton’s materials and brand by creating a line art home that resembles the Park Models that are being manufactured. This is done by showing the gable window and front porch seen on most Park Models homes. The logo also needed to reference both land and water as these homes can be seen lakeside or oceanside, but also in more secluded wooded or camping areas. This is done by showing the tree beside the house as well as the waves along the bottom of the logo. This was accomplished by creating a circular badge logo that is perfect for an Instagram profile or social media, using two different shades of pink and floral illustrations that reflect the most common colors and embellishments used in the artists work, and referencing the circular loops and tools the artist uses to create these projects by keeping the content of the logo contained within a circular holding shape. The goal of this logo was to feel just as professional as it feels friendly. Because McDaniel Engineering serves as a liason between service companies and operators, it is important for them to feel established, yet approachable. Using muted earth tones, a badge lockup, and softer typefaces helps to accomplish this. Because the primary logo here is a badge, that leaves plenty of opportunity for flexibility and adaptability in the future if elements of the badge need to be removed for functionality. The smaller icon in the top center of the logo was inspired by the pipes used in the cementing process and the initials/monogram of the company– MDLLC. The goal of this logo was to reflect Nashville culture while also giving what retailers had typically seen and expected of the Tempo brand a little refresh and twist. Using the three stars that are seen on the Tennessee flag paired with a holding shape that is reminiscent of a record helps to visually place this conference in Nashville. The muted colors have a more masculine feel to help cater to the primary audience of the conference while the script typeface in the logo help to lighten the emotional tone. Inspired by the name “Bellign,” derived from the form of a bell, the mark subtly integrates this reference while emphasizing the intricate nature of embroidery. Varied line weights and an illustrative approach convey the delicacy, depth, and technical skill inherent in the craft. The use of a script typeface reinforces the brand’s human-centered ethos, evoking the care, intention, and individuality behind each creation.
